Posted by catie on 11/11/2005, 3:26 pm I grew up in the desert and have stories about walking on blacktop barefoot in 100+ degree heat, the smell of the desert right before it rains, watching jack rabbits run through the tumbleweeds and the county fair... I think the best part of childhood for a kid is being allowed to explore their part of the world.

You know, I think you had a point when you said that wherever you are childhood is magical. I can imagine the country childhood and city (although when I imagine a city childhood is always NYC) childhood having equally wonderful parts.
