i'm working on it! it's just that whole darn job thing ... of course, mom says i can move home if i need to but somehow that serves more to terrify than worry 
but it will happen at some point; i just get a little homesick the first few days. it'll pass ... i hope. seriously, backpacking for your bday has got to be one of the coolest things ever -- what a nice bf!
