Bob Haworth and I have known each other for nearly 50 years. Together we have held down Mike Kirkland’s spot in The Brothers Four since December of 1968. Our shared professional highlight may have come in 1979 when Bob and I performed in every prefecture of Japan as two of The Brothers Four. We also did studio work together. He played on an album I recorded with Mike McCoy in 1981. Bob was part of the band that helped promote that album. In 2004 and 2005 he and I traveled together on the This Land Is Your Land Tour that included The Kingston Trio, The Brothers Four, and Glenn Yarbrough. When Bob and his wife, Meri, brought The Brothers Four to Colorado they did a professional job that included many personal touches. Their affection and respect for one another is clear. Bob and I share a lifelong passion for and a love of popular folk music from the 50’s and 60’s. It has been our good fortunes to help represent that music through the years. Bob is a fine man and a good guy who has my respect as an individual, a musician, and a folk music ambassador.
