Well, the Avon lady is a great quip line, but I'm sure that you know that "les bon vins nous avons bus" translates directly as "the good wines" (les bon vins" "we drank" ("nous avons bu" appears to mean "have drunk" until you remember that in French the regular past is formed by taking the present of "to have" - here "nous avons" "we have" and adding the present participle of boire = to drink which is "bu." But it means "we drank" and to say "have drunk" is more complicated.
The upshot is that the original KT was singing the correct words. Guard's pronunciation wasn't perfect, but any Frenchman would understand it. More on all of it here:
