There are some songs that have to be done, and other I just love to hear and at one time performed. Simply my humble opinion, these are my recommendations:
Act I
Hard Ain't It Hard
Three Jolly Coachmen
Tom Dooley
Scotch & Soda
Zombie Jamboree
They Call The Wind Maria
Everglades
To Morrow
MTA
Worried Man
The Merry Minuet
Act II
Greenback Dollar
Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Chilly Winds
Rev. Mr. Black
Road To Freedom
Deportee
Early Mornin' Rain
Reuben James
Ah Woe Ah Me
I'm Going Home (California)
I'm not sure how anyone does Scotch and Soda but Bob Shane, but it's a signature Trio song. Likewise, Tom Dooley is impossible to leave off the list, but I have tired of hearing it.
To me, the essentials of any Trio concert are:
Hard Ain't it Hard
MTA
S & S
Worried Man
Greenback Dollar
Where Have All the Flowers Gone
Chilly Winds
Reverend Mr. Black
Road to Freedom
Early Mornin' Rain
Reuben James
I'm Goin' Home
A couple of other considerations if you'll allow me:
Gonna Go Down the River is one that I have never heard in concert, but I absolutely love it in the Trio's version. Goin' Away for to Leave You is another rousing song. Raspberries, Strawberries is a Guard era song that really embodies that configuration as does Hard Travelin'. Given all of these, it's hard not to include O Ken Karanga, but the list eventually has to be honed to a manageable set list.
Hope this helps....when is the concert? I'd be curious as to the details.
Best wishes,
Jim
