Ron Greenstein from Philly took over bass duties around 2008, and as a thoroughly trained musician helped the trio resurrect several old CMT songs whose vocal parts the singers had forgotten but that Ron knew - from his own amateur trios from long ago. As Joe Connor notes, Ron has filled in for Joe Frazier since Joe became ill, starting when he did the 2012 Ireland cruise that the CMT sponsored.
Joe Frazier had become an Episcopal priest in 1976; over the last eight years or so, his parish was in the mountain/ski community of Big Bear, CA about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. In 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, Joe invited me to join an ad hoc group that Joe assembled including Ron G., Art Podell of the NCM long ago, and George Grove of the KT for a parish fundraiser. We'd do an hour of familiar folk songs each year, so even when Joe was ailing, it wasn't much of a strain on him, and he remained a superb singer through all the years. After Joe's passing in March, his parish invited the 4 of us remaining to do a similar show as a tribute to Fr. Joe.
ps: Hi Bob - I've always lurked around here through the years. I do miss our old days with Josh Fuller at Manitou Springs at the Mountain Music Festival.
