Right now, I don't think any of the folk groups is performing with all original members. Peter, Paul and Mary and the Chad Mitchell Trio were probably the last. We've gotten to the point where some groups, like the Trio and the Limeliters, perform with no original members. It seems to me that when a group has no original members, it is a tribute group. Plain and simple. It may sound great and perform a valuable function in keeping the repertoire alive, but it's a tribute group.
TRIVIA QUESTION: Let's see how sharp you guys are.
The Chad Mitchell Trio hasn't really performed with all original members for 50+ years. The original members were Mitchell, Mike Kobluk and a guy named Mike Pugh, who left shortly after they arrived in New York. He may appear on an early album.
A singer was hired to replace Pugh but was unhired quickly before Joe Frazier came on board. This guy never performed or recorded with the group. Who was he?
No cheating.
