For some time now the winding on the 3rd string on my Mossman dreadnought guitar has been broken at several frets, but the string is still intact, so, cheap as I am, I haven't changed it. The string has virtually no tone to it, but for the types of gigs I'm doing - nobody cares - and sadly, not even me.
But the other day I finally was thinking about changing strings and I went back to see if I had any record of the last time I'd put a new set on. It was April 1, 2012. Here it exactly one year later and - what the hey - I'm gonna break down and change the whole set today. I guess a year is a pretty good life span for a set of strings. Especially since I play this guitar at least five times a week, and sometimes two or three shows a day.
So I'm setting April 1st as my annual string changing day. No foolin'!
