That puts me in a bit of an odd position, because our state just passed Amendment 64, legalizing marijuana for partying. I voted in favor of that and that's the only thing I voted for that won in the last election. All the conservative candidates on my ballot lost.
So maybe the thought is that we'll all get high and not pay attention to what the Demoncrats are doing behind our backs. In the case of gun control, I'm opposed to any new legislation that restricts our 2nd Amendment rights. Here in Colorado we're going to lose that battle. Our Demoncrat-controlled House passed a number of new pieces of legislation last week that are sure to make it thru the Senate this week and then delight in being touched by the pen of our Honorable Gov. Hickenpooper (see my photo with the then-Mayor of Denver on my Photo page - see Celebrity Photos #2).
Some of these new laws include universal background checks for all gun purchases, including private sales (yeah, like the criminals are going to apply for background checks - and yeah, like they're really going to be able to enforce the requirement for back-ground checks on private sales ), banning concealed carry and all guns from state college campuses and limiting magazines to 15 rounds.
This week our wise-as-owls legislators will discuss and no-doubt pass the most insane piece of crap I've ever heard: they want to make gun manufacturers liable for any gun-related crimes. If this passes I believe the Demoncrats will have won everthing they want. Why would a gun manufacturer stay in business if they're going have to pay millions in damages to victims of a gun that they built? This will effectively put gun manufacturers out of business, or at least force them out the country. So we won't be able to buy guns at all, other than those that already exist. Is this the craziest thing you've ever heard of???
I've written and called our local representatives in the House and Senate to no avail. I received two carbon-copy responses (the exact same one twice) from our District Representative and no response from our District Senator. They both voted for all this stuff despite a resolution passed by our County Commissioners asking that no new legislation be considered that will impact our 2nd Amendment rights. Our so-called representatives won't even listen to the will of their constituents. If the Party says "vote for this" they're gonna do it, no matter how loudly we howl from the sidelines.
Folks - buy now - buy lots and don't tell anybody you've got 'em. I hear that ammo is becoming scarce too. What is this world coming to???
