This kind of thing should be illegal anywhere. But actually, there was a previous test case in Colorado. In 2004, the Trio performed in Cripple Creek, Colorado. We played "Worried Man" with 4 banjos. George, Bill, me and Paul all played banjos. The banjo that Paul played was a bass banjo that a friend of mine and I built out of a cardboard drum (like what oatmeal comes in at Boy Scout Camp?). He hated it and I promised I'd never make him play it again, but we do have a recording of it. I'll bet "Dave" wouldn't mind playing it.
Manitou is pretty close to Cripple Creek, so I would imagine that similar mountain laws would apply. But why stop at 3 or 4? There's gotta be more banjo players at that festival.
