Last month the station presented me in concert at the Eaton High School Auditorium and we had a nice turn-out for that show. To the station's surprise and delight, they actually came out in the black. I have some video of the show that we'll try to get up on youtube soon.
In the course of doing the promotion for that concert I got to know the owners of the station pretty well and we've become good friends. Brett Reese and his wife, Chrisann, run the station as a non-profit venture. The format is somewhat diverse, ranging from swing standards to pop, country and nostalgia of all sorts. They even play Kingston Trio, Brothers Four and other folky stuff.
Brett and Chrisann have three daughters: Lexie (age 4), McKinzi (age 6) and Kelsey (age 10). Kelsey has her own radio show on Wednesdays from 9:00 - noon (mountain time.) I'm listening to her show right now, as a matter of fact. Kelsey has a very mature radio personality, belying her mere 10 years of age. I encourage all of you to tune in and listen - anytime - but especially on Wednesday morning. They stream at http://www.pirate1047.com/
The Reese family are also musically inclined and they have a show that features Brett on guitar, Chrisann on bass and the girls on vocals. It's the cutest thing ever and I can't wait for the opportunity to open a show for them.
So check it out - definitely worth a listen if you like mid-20th century music. Oh, Kelsey just played my request: "What Did Della Wear (Delaware)" Thanks, Kelsey!
