Then, I came to this message board and found that the owner may have changed his mind, but then also told Bob not to bother showing up for his scheduled gig tonight - Thursday September 27th. Wait one second! Bob, please come back, but please don't come by tonight and for another couple of weeks after that. Huh??????? Below, see the exchange of emails between myself and this fellow who actually thinks he offered for Bob to return, even though he told Bob not to show up tonight for his scheduled gig. ========================= Owner Atlanta Bread Company - Aurora and Lakewood Thank you for your kind reply and I am glad you realized that this one crackpot trying to blackmail you was not worth taking out on Bob, who doesn't have a mean bone in his body. At the same time, while I understand you agreed to remove the "suspension", you also changed your mind and told Bob that his appearance tonight (Thursday night September 27, 2007) was still off. Rob, you either change your mind or you don't. He plays or he doesn't. To say "come back but please don't come tonight" --- what's that all about? I would understand an apology to Bob and "please come back, see you tonight". Your invitation to "come back in three weeks" is hardly what I call "withdrawing the penalties", which naturally should never have been considered at all. Telling Bob to stay home tonight is not an apology and is not "withdrawing the penalty." Perhaps a public apology and ask Bob if he could make time to return tomorrow night or Saturday night -- now that might be close to a decent thing to do. It would be some good publicity for your store as well -- Store Owner Stands Up To Left Wing Crackpot Blackmail. Sounds pretty good to me. Mike Kavanagh Mr. Kavanagh, I want you to know that we are upset and disappointed at how the situation with Mr. Haworth has developed. We received a complaint about Bob's songs last week and have been working hard to resolve the issue. We evaluate every complaint very closely, and when possible, we discuss the complaint with the person who submitted it, and then we take appropriate action. In this case, we received a very serious complaint that required a great deal of discussion and coordination between the person submitting it, the Haworths, and the owners of our store. Based on our conversations with all involved, the owners determined a course of action. We spoke to Bob about the complaint - and I am confident that Bob is not a racist, nor was his intent to offend anyone. We asked Bob to take a 2 night suspension to resolve the issue - we had hoped to resume his schedule after this brief hiatus. As we spoke to more people we realized that Bob had no ill-intent and that the penalties were too severe – so we withdrew the penalties – unfortunately when we were unable to rearrange the schedule to Bob’s liking he decided to terminate his relationship with our store. We are disappointed Bob has decided not to perform at our store in the future - we certainly wish him well. If you have additional comments or questions please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for taking the time to write us your email. I am an American, a veteran, and equally concerned about the immigration situation. In my business I have to set aside many of my own personal political beliefs and do what is right for the restaurant.
Sincerely,
