Posted by R Fitz I remember when they started cutting the violence out of cartoons--don't want the kids trying the same things as Daffy Duck or Wile E. Coyote! Of course I never knew a kid who could get his hands on dynamite, either... And God knows how much I was damaged in childhood by watching Popeye beat the snot out of Bluto or seeing the 3 Stooges slap each other around. I'll try to contribute more if/when I remember more. The substitution of "Native American" for Indian has banished a great deal of our heritage.
When somebody takes back what's been given, it's a little awkward to call that person a "Native American-giver." The kids no longer play "Cowboys & Indians" because "Indians" is out of style and shooting, even in play, is frowned upon.
I grew up in Indiana; how soon are all the maps going to read "Nativeamericana?"
