Put yourself in the shoes of a law enforcement officer in the heat of pursuit. Things can get dicey. I imagine they reacted to situations that were unfolding second by second. Not doubt they jumped the gun, so to speak, but they were doing their job of protecting our border. This guy ignored their command to stop and identify himself - he was breaking the law and he chose to flee. Yet, he got off scott free and two patriots got the shaft. There are aspects of this matter that Sutton's report glosses over. First, it has now come to light that three of the jurors on this case have since recanted their vote for a guilty verdict. They say that they were incorrectly told that a unanimous verdict was required and that they were basically manipulated into voting to convict. They subsequently found out that this was incorrect, and had they known that dissenting votes were allowed they would not have voted to convict these two border guards. Also being swept under the rug is the fact that this same drug dealer, who was given immunity to testify against Ramos and Compean, was busted again a week before he was scheduled to testify. He was trying to smuggle nearly 1000 pounds of marijuana into our country and mysteriously, all the paperwork on that arrest has disappeared, clearing the way for him to testify for the prosecution. Of course, Sutton's office is denying any of this. Talk about misinformation! To add further insult, this same smuggler has now sued our government (i.e. you and me) for $5-million in damages to compensate him for the injury he sustained in the process of breaking our laws. Obviously he'll win, since our government has already made his case by convicting Ramos and Compean. He must be laughing at a government that would now finance his illegal drug operation to the tune of $5-million. There is something seriously wrong with this picture. The implications of this are serious. Border guards are now afraid to do anything other than sit and watch as illegals file across the border for fear that they, too, might be prosecuted. This has eroded the morale of our border patrol and it sends a message across the border that anything goes for illegals. Come on over - bring your drugs - bring your crime. You get a free pass here. Is that the America we want? Not me! OK, I concede that not all illegals are dangerous criminals. Many just want to come here to better their life. I say hurray to anyone with a desire to improve their quality of life. But please come here legally. If you come here illegally you are, by definition, a criminal. That cannot be disputed. By the way, please note that the two border guards that I am supporting with proceeds from this recording ar both Hispanic. Where's the racism you accuse me of?
