I've been pretty busy since the first of Dec. doing a lot of holiday parties. Not much time to sit at the computer, but for me at least, getting out and doing what I love to do is more important. I'll relate a couple of funny stories that happened to me this past week. Two of the parties I played for were at retirement homes. After my show at one of these a lady came up to me and introduced herself as Thelma. She said she'd like to introduce me to her son, who had recently had a stroke. Thelma told me, "My son's 81 and I'm 101. We both live here." My jaw dropped! At another very plush retirement home where I've played before, a couple sat in the front row and really enjoyed the music. I stopped for a short intermission and took the opportunity to chat with them. They told me that they'd known each other since they were five years old. I congratulated them on staying together for so long, to which they replied, "Oh, no - we didn't get married until we were 80." Truth is stranger than fiction!
