I still do not suggest that Bobby do what that author did: opine about backstage "ups" and "downs" of his folk-music career, or the careers of other folk singers. But I still belive a similar personal perspective about the overall genre (its social & cultural relevance, etc.) would construct a broader platform from which to share the story of his remarkable career. Bobby, you are authoritative, articulate, and admired. You can charm a hungry dog off a meat wagon, or fight like a Trojan to defend your values.
