Re: Folk Group?"
Yes, I have contacted some people in Boulder. Again, part of the problem is that you have to be able to offer musicians a carrot in order to get them to commit. That's means either money for rehearsal or a schedule of future performances that are going to pay. Also, a prominent aspect of the Boulder music scene is that it's populated with folks who are a lot younger than I am. I'm WAY over the hill to those kids and I really don't relate to stuff they're writing and performing. Of course, there are "vintage" players who live there, but I can't seem to find anybody who just wants to "put a group together" and see what happens. When we were 15 or so we could do that and experiment with stuff. Anybody my age either needs to make a living at it or they're just doing it for fun, and most of those folks have never had much professional experience. I've been a professional all my life and worked with some really good players. It's hard to justify having to drop my standards in order to work in the local market. If someone came along and offered to back a project then I could pay some good players to come on board. Sadly, money talks in this business, and I'm not in a position to offer anybody either money or gigs at this point.
