But Bob is quite aware of all up- and downsides to an act of this kind, much more than I am. IMHO a quartet including one female offers a versatility that would be an advantage. It would also benefit the folk tradition in general to recruit younger performers to keep the great old songs alive. Unfortunately, from what I've noticed, is that the younger ones with talent want to perform their own material so much that being part of an established tradition isn't a priority. And we are fans of a limited market. Trust me, as I am in Colorado, I'm keeping my eyes open for young, folk-oriented performers, with one of Bob's cards in my wallet, and ready to tell them how much they can learn from such a performing veteran. The field has proven kind of sparce, but I'll keep looking....
