When we showed up for sound check on the day of the recording they had these condenser mics that they wanted us to use and endorse. We tried to tell them that we didn't care for condenser mics on the instruments because they tend to lose the warmth. We refused the endorsement request, but they used the mics anyway. I think they probably could have EQ-ed the instruments better, but due to the fact that mics were condensers and due to the fact that the guy didn't have a clue, the guitars came out very high-ended with no body at all. They had the same sibilance as the cymbals and you really couldn't distinguish the individual guitars. I also pointed out to Bob that they had spiced together one song (I think it was "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" or maybe "I'm Goin' Home" - not sure) using the recording from the first show part way through and then splicing on the ending from the second show. The problem was - duh! - they'd changed the reverb settings between shows, so the splice is quite obvious. IDIOTS!
