Pat , the link should work have a read .
Note the dates given 1980s , things may be very different by 1992/3 .
I seem to remember you saying your trans was rebuilt recently .
I wouldn`t have thought a converter could balloon but this suggests they can and being ZFs run high pressures ?
Spent some time googling and nothing like your problem being Rover specific could be found and if a fault is common it is usually well reported .
Still think the centre bearing should be the tell though and it should be one side worn more if the diagnosis is correct .
