    4.6 Engines

    Hi Blokes
As you probably now know the "NEW" 4.6 engine which has done an astounding 9,825 Kilometers and now shit itself (a real piece of endurance work). We had the autopsy done on it today here in WA instaed of sending it back to Victoria to where I bought it from, it turns out that every main bearing except for one or two has had something through it and the rear thrust bearing on the crank has about a millimeter of metal missing off it's surface, most of the big ends are stuffed as well.
Although I have not yet discussed the results of the autopsy with the people I purchased the engine from to any real depth it appears highly unlikley that it will be claimable on warranty. Being that the rear thrust bearing has failed which they say is due to an "EXTERNAL FORCE" being applied to the crankshaft from the gearbox side and that I probabably have not coupled the motor and gearbox together correctly which is not true as we check and double checked the measurement for the proper clearance.

Anyway at this point in time I would like to know if any of you have bought a 4.6 motor and had a similar failure with it.
Please get back to me if you have as I am at a loss (so is the autopsy expert) as to what has caused this failure.

    Regards:- Patrick M.
