Thanks Brad but I'm thinking a can of petrol and a match would be better right now. It "WAS" a short motor, new from the UK but purchased here in Aus.
It's only done 10,000K "The Mongrel Thing".
Yeah good thought Brad My step son just picked up a 1999 Disco for $1500.00 yesterday it apparentely has a noise in the motor as well as a miss but being a mechanic he is confident he can get it going ok. But that does'nt solve my delima.
    Regards:- Patrick M.

: Pat that is no bloody good at all
: Can i please ask that when you have gone can
: I please have the motor and also if not to
    : much trouble the Rangie?
: I mean to say it needs another good home
: after you have left us
    :

    :
    :
    :
: No on a more serious note I really feel for
: you as it not an easy job of swapping motors
: as I am doing this right now. but having a
: new motor only to find out its stuffed is
    : really low.
: I wonder if it was cleaned out properly
: after the engine was machined. scrubbed and
: washed out with detergent to remove all the
: oil and swarf from the machining process.
: Was this a full long motor or an exchange
: block or out of the crate from england?
: Who is paying for all this removal and
    : stripdown?
: I hope its not you.
: Please keep us all updated with the outcome
: and progress as I am very keen to hear what
    : happened and why.
: Chin up and if you are going to buy the
: missus another car why not look for a disco
: or something now and when the rangie is
: going again sell the disco that way you wont
    : have withdrawl symptoms.
: Cheap ones are out there especially on ebay!
: You just have to look.
: If you read one of my previous posts where I
    : picked up a 95 disco for $1300 I spent about
: $10.00 to fix it (transfercase output
: bearing)and my time to clean it up and I
: sold it 5 weeks later for $4600
    :
    : It made me smile
: You need to smile as well

    : Hi Blokes
: I have a major problem on my hands, the
: brand new 4.6 litre I put into my Rangie has
: F@#%ed up. I'm feeling very low. It has to
: be shipped back to the people I bought it
: from and an autopsy performed on it to
: determine what went wrong. Basically I have
: found swarf in the oil gallery recess of the
: camshaft and a s$%t load of metal and gunk
: in the sump, at this stage it looks like
: whatever it was has pushed metal right
    : through the whole engine.
: No more Rangie, vvvvvery saaaaad.
: Now I have to buy a new car for the Missus,
    : vvvvvverrrryy, vvvvvvery, saaaaaaaadddddddd.
    :
: Think I'll go slash my wrists nowwww. it's
: downwards with the razor isn't it? Anyone
: with some good advise on how to perform this
: task successfully please make contact
    : immediately.
    :
: Regards to all (so long):- Patrick M.
