When I did mine I didn't have the courage to play with the electronics at all. De-pressurising the system happened automatically on my car anyway and I used a small external air compressor on each individual airbag to give me the few pounds required to pop the bags onto the cones. The computer didn't even know I'd been there. Love your idea about the brake rotors, although I mightn't need it for a few more years now.
