I have had the problem on a couple of occasions, I would suggest cleaning out the throttle body as suggested, you should not have to alter the idle adjustment though, next if you have no joy is to go to the electrics, I think you will find that it is the ignition module playing up, but before doing that change the spark plugs, coil, high tension leads and the supressor at the top of the dizzy where the coil HT lead connects, that way you know you have done all the basics and the cheaper stuff before you turn your attention to the more expensive stuff such as the ignition module.
