The engine dyno was done on a 2 wheel dyno (front tail shaft removed and in 4wd) but with the 33" tyres and given the speed that the result was reached, the converter must have been locked.
According to Triumph Rover Spares (who I purchased the new short motor from) this seems a normal figure.
I must admit, given that it has a Haltech ECU I would have thought that I would have achieved higher power. However, I think the cam they sold me was a standard cam, the heads are standard, the inlet standard and I have not fitted extractors. Probably expecting too much really just from the ECU.
The car is VERY quick off the mark but does run out of puff a bit once in top gear and the T/C locked up. Can accelerate quickly though in 3rd gear (gets to 130-140kph in no time)
In the end, its a cost vs gain thing I think. I spent 8k on the engine doing the work myself. I think guys can easily spend 15-20k to get that extra few HP.
