G'day Peter,
Just a bit of lateral thinking.
1. Don't believe you only have one problem ... there could quite well be two situations which in combination cause the starting difficulty.
2. Too many people believe that starting issues with LPG are all starvation or lean mixture. Not so. You can flood LPG the same as petrol. My '85 would start easily if primed once, but wouldn't start if primed twice. My Kombi was different. With it I had to prime once and then turn off the gas switch until it had fired. If the gas was left on it would flood.
All the starting problems with the '85 disappeared when I fitted the Buick HEI distributor. (I think it would've ignited sump oil if I'd tried!)
Best of luck.
Rgds
Kevin
