: Thinking on this a bit more .
    :
: I do think it is an electrical problem
    : .
    :
: All i`m doing by putting power on the
: solenoid is opening the gas flow from
: the tanks to the convertor .
    :
: If the gas was there at the convertor
: it should start straight away , which
    : it does not .
    :
: So the time lapse , winding over is for
: the gas coming from the tank or line to
    : the converter .
    :
: What do you think ?
    :
: When it happens again i should be able
: to prove it by undoing the filter and
: if there`s no gas , i`ll have to go
: looking but i`d need to have a leak
: between the converter and the mixers
: and although there is sometimes a
: slight smell of gas , never strong .
    :
: Or possibly the tank solenoid is
: shutting off for some reason ?
    :
: With the 2 tanks there is only 1 main
: line to the converter but both tanks
    : join at a valve ( that i can`t think of
    : the name of ? )
: Could be that this valve is at fault ,
: it is not solenoid controlled but
    : mechanical .
    :
: Trouble is it has normally happened at
: a time not suited to investigation .
    :
    : Cheers

    : Hi all
    :
: 85 BA duel fuel IMPCO system Twin carb
: Twin Mixers Twin tanks .
    :
: This is not from cold , it has to be
: primed to start from cold , the problem
: occurs when it is warmed and also often
: when air temp is higher , it`s
: intermittant and ongoing for a couple
    : of years .
    :
: Every now and again but not of late and
: even in the heat , the car won`t start
    : on LPG .
    :
: It generally fires once and won`t start
: when it occurs . Similar to when a
: rotor is playing up .
    :
: Other times it will it will run for
: 5/10 sec and stop and not restart .
    :
: Then other times it`s dead as a door
    : nail , winds but won`t start .
    :
: It`s only ever happened twice after
    : refueling .
    :
: The norm is the key is barely turned
: and it fires , just sort of flicked on
: and it fires , there is nothing wrong
: with the start system .
    :
: I can find no faults with the lpg
: system or electrics related other than
: the way i can start it when the problem
    : occurs .
    :
: The way it can be started is by
: disconecting the solenoid wires and
: jumping a power wire to the main fuel
: line solenoid at the converter .
    :
: If i do this it will wind over for
: around 5 seconds before it will start
: but it will always start .
    :
: If i don`t do this it can be wound over
: for as long as you feel like , it can
: be left and gone back to for 10/15/30
: minutes and it may or may not start .
    :
: The way this part of it works is
: similar to an EFI fuel pump , there is
    : a computer , it`s not the normal type
    : saftey switch ( well it`s called a
: computer don`t know what`s in it )under
: the dash so what i`m doing is like
: jumping a power wire to an EFI fuel
    : pump .
    :
: Sorry about the length but it`s a bit
: hard to explain otherwise .
    :
    : Any ideas ?
    :
    : Cheers , Peter
    :
    :
    :
    :
: G'day Peter, just been through this
: very same problem with my 87 classic,
: turned out to be a faulty rotor button,
: hope this is of help. Jhonno
    :
Peter I've just reread your original post, maybe the little computer thing you are talking about is the timer??? I had one of these play up on my previous RR (85) not efi, caused me all sorts of grief. Regards Jhonno
