Hi Ron. If you only had numerals to represent "4 b 4" [short for four by four" how would you represent them. B happens to be the second letter of the alphabet having a place of 2. So ROV424 could represent "Rover four b four," in other words "four by four." At least I thought that was probably the previous owners intention, when I bought this RR with this number-plate on it a couple of years ago. A number of kids puzzles will use numbers to represent letters of the alphabet. In alphanumeric alphabets like ancient Greek, Hebrew and Latin, a letter of the alphabet represents a number--see Encyclopedia Brittanica. Why not have a number representing a letter. And okay I know technically a RR is not a four by four but is actually a All Wheel Drive, but many would not see a real difference between four wheel drive and all wheel drive. I would love that number plate on my 1985 RR, but need to sell the 84, hence offering it with the number plate.

: Alright. You have me intrigued. Why is
: the plate a good 'un for RR owners?
: Apart from ROV it doesn't seem to offer
: anything - or am I missing something?
