Posted by JB on 11/30/2002, 4:48 pm Wow--Finch is a great part to have already tackled before finishing high school. Congratulations! I hope you had as good a time doing the show as I did. As for advice, I could go on for days. :-) But in a nutshell, I would say: *Take the craft part seriously. Train with people who you feel are really making a difference with you. Don't settle for anything less than great teachers. And then work your butt off. *Be on time. *Do what you say you're going to do. *Have a good sense of humor about yourself and the business. *The more "you" you can bring into your auditions, the more you will be hired. I just read that Jack O'Brien looks for "vivid" performers in auditions. To me, that translates to: Develop the most vivid version of you that there is. Know what is special about you. Don't try to figure out what they're looking for. *On a similar note, don't worry about the guys before you or the guys after you. In a perfect world, you are all showing them the most vivid "you's" possible, which are so distinct from each other that to compare them would be ridiculous. I'm going to stop there, but I really could go on and on.... Break a leg! Let me know how it's going for you-- Best- Jeff
