I fell in love with the song the first time I played through it as an accompanist during a rehearsal with the lovely and talented Christina Bruni. It made a grown man weep, though I am in a situation where I do not see my children daily. I guessed wrong the context of the song until I read the actual context from your web site: I thought she was singing to her perhaps illegitimate baby in utero whom she would be "giving up" to relatives.
