They are GONE!!! No bodies to be found, piles of feathers everywhere. My feed store guy suggested a cat and I said "but 15 guineas?" His worker said something about a flock(?) of red tails as that has happened to his guineas. I said "in the dead of night?" Mike thought it was a pack of coyotes and I said "this close to the house?"
So, in the daylight this evening, I called and called - no familiar buckwheat or chi-chi. Feathers behind the barn where they are housed - heck, they are all around the barn.
Then I was feeding the horses and low and behold a coyote walked not 10 yards behind my horses! I'm just sick.
Bear the wonder Pyr and I took a walk thru the horse pasture - she stopped to sniff, I pointed the flashlight downwards - a pile of guinea feathers and a bone.
I'm so distraught at the stress in my guineas last moments - and their lovely, annoying sound. My row is too damn long at the moment. I hate being so empathatic(sp) and caring - it hurts so much!
I'm sorry for the sadness to continue to heap upon y'all.
Frigging coyotes - no longer will I find their call of the wild a beautiful one.
