For a friendly it was an entertaining match, i've certainly seen worse league performances from Blues over the years!
First half was ok, we dominated play and went ahead through Morrison with a far post tap in. We looked sharp going forwards but not well supported from the full back position which wasn't surprising considering the defence had a look of the Lee Clarks about it. Spector was right back, Grounds centre half and Cogley left back. It just wasn't balanced although Grounds looked comfortable as a center half. A bit of a jig around and I think we would have be far better.
Anyway, we had two shots cleared off the line, their keeper made 2 or 3 very good saves and Maghoma hit the woodwork with a cross / shot. So it ended up 1v0 at half time which in truth was kind on Forest Green.
Second half, we were totally dominant. I can't really remember Forest Green troubling us at the back.
We made a number of changes at half time and throughout the second half which mean most players got 45 minutes under their belts with some getting 60 mins. A few of the young lads like Maxwell and Storer (more on him in a minute) got 30 minutes to show us what they could do.
I was very impressed with Storer, he had a goal harshly disallowed for offside (didn't look it from where i was stood), got a great headed goal and forced the keeper into a couple of good saves in his 30 minute cameo. He was a constant threat and for an 18 year old very strong on the ball, no-one was pushing him off it!!
He looked like a lad with something to prove and he certainly didn't treat the game like a friendly.
So after he had put us 2v0 up with a nice headed goal into the top left hand corner after some nice work down the right we were in total control and it almost became like attack against defence.
I'd like to tell you what Diego's goal was like but as we were so close to full time I'd dragged my lad off to the loo before the final whisle ready for the journey home LOL!!!!
All in all a cracking afternoon with my boy watching a decent friendly run out!
