I realise that at this time of the season newspapers have very little to speculate on with regard to transfers...........so i hope today's gossip about Boyd & Davis is exactly that...speculation.
We need to move away from thinking we can only attract a certain type of player......Davis would have been a decent signing a couple of seasons ago but we now have the financial muscle to attract a different class of player.
As most on here realise i have been one of Big Eck's most loyal fans....the job he has done here on what was a pathetic budget is little short of a miracle.
To spend only £9M in the summer and get us playing some really decent football has to be applauded.
However........i do hope he is given the funds that will enable him to go for the next level of player that we are crying out for.
IMO a centre forward / a box to box midfielder & a left and right back are essential purchases in January.
Generally the big business is done in the summer window so that is when i think we will spend big......whether or not Big Eck is the man doing the buying remains to be seen........i hope he is but i think our new regime may have other ideas.
