agreed on tactics - it has to be 442 at home, irrespective of opposition. we could play the big treams with 451 and still lose!. i have no problem with 451 as a system, played well it can be very effective, but we just dont have the quality of players to maximise it. for me fads has to be up top with the main striker, chucho for me to start. fads is wasted out wide whether it be right or left eck has tried both and for me neither have been a great success. sunderland will almost certainly go 442, with bent and jones up top, brucie will be smelling another 3 pts - and to be fair they have started well.
but we are at home - it is up to us to make things happen - dont wait to lose the first goal before we wake up(it will happen as sure as eggs are eggs if we start slowly with bent especially being in top form). come on eck lets be positive!!. these are the games we have to get something from, burnley+stoke have turned them over - already at this early stage of the season - we need to as well.
as regards transfers - i think we need to get a reality check too - some of the names bandied about on here are no chancers. one thing that does worry me a little is that yeung&co have already been a bit naive with is actually shouting from the rooftops how much we have to spend - agents must be licking their lips!.
we have to get additional bodies in during the window, there must be some quality in europe especially, not this dzeko - he wont come to us, british players seem to be overpriced for me, even jocks and lets face it they are playing in a poor league, barely championship standard.
my team to start would be:
hart
carr johnson dann quedrue
larsson bowyer ferguson fahey
chucho mcfadden
subs taylor(gk)ridgewell,carsley,mcsheffrey,jerome,phillips,oconnor.
i would like to see larsson in the middle, possibly jerome wide right with his pace, that would mean bowyer being sacrificed - but eck would not be that adventurous i feel.
