Big Phew......Tony's job did NOT go on strike...msg...

One HOUR before they were gonna go on strike they came to an agreement!!! The governor of New York actually called and spoke with someone so they were able to come to an agreement. My gosh, what a big relief!!! Can you imagine, anyone even THINKING about going on strike in today's economy?? Anyway, Tony and I are most certainly relieved!!!

I cannot even imagine entertaining the idea of striking in these tough times. I'm so glad they ratified the contract.

The sticking stone was health insurance and it sounds as though they compromised. The days of free health insurance will have to come to an end I think before too long, so alot of these guys are going to have to accept the idea they may have to pay something towards it in the not too distant future.

but they were upset that we might have to actually make a copayment when we went to the doctor's. LOL!! Can you imagine??? Big deal!!! It is almost unheard of NOT to have to make a copayment in this day and age for goodness sake so I could not believe the guys were making a stink over that. In any case they got to keep our insurance with a $10 a week increase which is an okay deal.

...so I thought Sysco was the same. I think that when our next contract is up though, we'll see co-pays and they'll have to pay something into theirs each week. By then (my) Tony will be retired (and we'll be paying BIG time for insurance) but 2 of my kids are also in the union so they'll be affected by future contracts.
