You aren't horrible.
Road trips are difficult at the best of times.
You both are very smart to postpone this one.
And why a road trip? Could you do something really relaxing like a cruise or something? They have some good ones leaving out of San Diego, and you'd only be gone 5 to 7 days.
Of course, I'm biased. I've been dragged on the most horrendous "vacations" that were anything but, and when I went on my first cruise and got a taste of the good life, I told the b/f I was NEVER going on a crappy vacation against my will again. And I haven't.
