I'm pro-choice and even volunteered a an abortion counselor for 3 years. I not only worked with women after abortion, I also counseled women before. I always made sure to explain the risks, both physical and emotional. I explained their other options, and even had a few women opt to keep or adopt out after speaking to me. In my opinion pro-choice is not the same as pro-abortion. I don;t want women to abort their babies, but I believe they should have that choice. I have 3 kids, and could never choose abortion for myself. But THERE are women out there who are "pro-abortion" their interest is simply to have something to debate about. They would be the type to further "the movement" by not explaining the risks. I DETEST THAT! I would also like to know where I can find info on planned parenthood fighting this law (seriously) I have given their name to many people, and even vouched for them, if they are doing this I would like to have the info because I will NOT be referring anyone else to them. I realize that we have opposing opinions on this subject, but I hate debate, I truly am interested in whats happening with planned parenthood. If I refer someone to a place claiming they will discuss ALL options, I expect them to do just that. Not all pro-choicers WANT women to have abortions. And I, personally, would never hide info that could prevent one.
EDIT: Thanks for the link. I agree it's perfectly reasonable, and something that all clinics should be doing anyway. I'm not sure why anyone would be against it. It's not as if they're overturning Roe v Wade. Just giving women the right to make an informed decision. And though my opinions haven't changed, I can guarantee I will no longer be referring anyone to planned parenthood or any other agency who does not support this bill. Again, thanks for the info.
