An interesting copper plate engraved antique map in three different parts,
The first shows the river Sanaga, the second the river Sanaga with surrounding terrain of trees, mountains & the Fort of St. Joseph and the third shows a ground plan of the Fort with an explanatory key in the upper left corner & mileage scale beneath the plan. A fine detailed and interesting map engraved by Bellin for
for Antoine-François Prevost's ,
" L`Histoire Generale des Voyages"
and published by Pierre de Hondt, The Hague between 1747 -1780.
Jacques Nicolas Bellin ( 1703 - 1772) was a French Hydrographer & geographer,
On hand laid paper without folds.
Blank verso and in fine , virtually unmarked condition.
Measuring approx. 9" x 6" ( 230mm x 150mm ) printed area only with good margins beyond. A crisp impression which would frame well.
