An interesting copper plate engraved antique map , depicting three coastal profiles of the Portuguese Cape Verde Islands off the northwest coast of Africa.
Engraved by Jacques Nicholas Bellin for Antoine-François Prevost's
" L`Histoire Generale des Voyages"
and published by Pierre de Hondt, The Hague between 1747 -1780.
The coastal profiles are of the Isle de May (Maio island) and Ile S. Jago (Yago, or Sao Tiago), next to a plan of the harbor of St. Jago (Praya, or Praia) on the island of the same name.
On hand laid paper without fold lines.
Blank verso and in fine,virtually unmarked condition.
Measuring approx. 9" x 6" ( 230mm x 150mm ) to the clear platemark with margins beyond. A crisp impression which would frame well.
