Hi Brian
I think i first saw you in Dundee in the 70's and have seen as many of your gigs as i have been able ever since. We saw your London show at the Jazz cafe. Amazing as ever. 2 weeks earlier we saw Joey deF play Ronnies with this new Hammond synth clone he's promoting. We were there all 3 nights. We saw Joey play a B3 last year and have to say he was immense that time but this time the performance lacked "engagement" Joey seemed a little bit uncomfortable but we weren't sure he necessarily knew why? Something"s gone missing from Joey's performances and we"re not sure he knows that its down to the fact that there's no B3 and no Leslie - which as organ players ourselves was the view we formed. Having spent an entire career taming the beast - why would Joey want to turn his back on the B3 and could he not be aware that an essential element of his performance is now lacking. I know you jammed with him at Namm. Do you have a view on this other than to admonish us for even attempting to pass judgement on such a gifted player.
