Run, don’t walk, to see the Coryell/Auger/Sample Trio; CAST! They played here in Detroit at Cliff Bell’s Friday and blew the doors off the place. Julian Coryell does to a guitar what Brian does to a B3; yeah he’s that good. Nick Sample provided flawless bass and of course Karma wails on drums. This group works.
They played 4 sets with a lot of new cuts being planned for their next disc. Problem is finding out where they’ll be playing. You can check out MySpace but I can tell you Ohio is the lucky winner. CAST! will be in Columbus this Tuesday (9/16), then Dayton (9/17), followed by Cleveland (9/18). Karma, please let us know if/when there are future gigs planned.
Boundless energy wrapped in humility. Maybe they all inherited their sense of hard work and passion for music from their fathers. Catch CAST! You won’t be disappointed.
