Dear Kevin, I started on piano at the age of three and learnrd to play on my own. After playing on the Jazz scene in London UK where I was born, I heard some Jimmy Smith records and by a series of strange but fortunate events I began to play organ at 24 years old, and discovered a natural affinity for the instrument. So, no, my parents did not send me for lessons, but at forty one years old I enrolled for a year in Univ.San Francisco to see what part of my musical education was missing. I took ten classes that year and had a wonderful time, ending up with nine "A"s and a B+, and a offer to join the Phi Beta Kappa Society, (whatever that is), - an offer I declined. I hope this answers your qestion. All The Best BRIAN
