Very sad indeed, but I always take solice in the fact that musicians leave behind a legacy of their music, which is eternal. From what I learned on the net, he was a champion dog breeder, became an attorney, and was a very remarkable person. I loved some of the older pictures of him, kind of reminds me of Harry Potter knocking hell out of the drums!!
Perhaps BA or Karma can comment more, but I noticed a style of drumming shared by Waller, Mitch Mitchell, Jon Hiseman, that I think of as the "Wild English Boy" style, that I don't think was shared with the American Drummers of the era, at least in pop music. I always loved the "Wild English Boy" sound, so melodic, powerful, perhaps technical, but I think always joyful.
