I just wanted to add something about the breed. I taught Dobes to hunt coons and squirrels early on, and they were good at it, but you could not hear them in the deep woods. The reason hounds and cur sound like they sound, is because you can hear them in the deep woods. You also have to teach dobes, things that come instinctively to both hounds and curs.
I used them on cattle, and they sucked at it, because they did not have the instincts required to be proficient at it.
I used them to both bay and catch hogs. I soon realized that they were a six month dog, if used on hogs. I never used them again, before the dog died.
