She's a fine-lookin' dog, there!
That's a great "old school" technique.. waiting for the dog to choose that the "non-animated" piece of equipment isn't where it's at.. that it has to drop it & refocus to get the next bite.
Bill was the 1st person I saw do it years ago, but I've seen it lots of places since (& with people a little longer in the tooth). Any trainer would improve to add it to their "toolbox" IMO.
Lookin' forward to the next installment of videos once you get settled back home!
...........TASHI,
THE TECHNIQUE MAY BE SIMILAR BUT THE APPLICATION AND EXECUTION OF IT IS VERY DIFFERENT. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TEACHING A DOG TO TRANSFER FROM DEAD PREY TO LIVE. IT HAS TO DO WITH ALLOWING THE DOG TO CALM DOWN AND COLLECT ITSELF.
IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO HAVE A DOG COLLECT ITSELF AND NOT OVER LOAD AFTER /DURING CIVIL AGITATION.
YET FEEL COMFORTABLE BITING EQUIPMENT AND NOT BECOMING A MATERIAL JUNKY.
