This Washington Bailey was my ggrandfather. Yes, he had a son named William born in Illinois in 1840 according to the 1850 census for Marshall County. The family resided for a short while in Iowa before moving to Kansas by 1860. Incidentally, this Washington Bailey died in 1901, not 1917. All info that I have is in a family file posted at Ancestry.com. William's mother was Sarah Brewer.
