My grandfather, William Edward Bailey, came to the US from England when he was 4 years old in 1854. He had a first family, of which I know very little. He then had a second family after his first wife died. He had theree children. My father, William Wallace Bailey, and his two sisters Evelyn and Lillian. My Father was the youngest and was born in May 1904. He left the family farm in Connecticut, and went to Kansas City to learn engine repair. He married early in life and got a divorce shortly afterward. He didn't marry again until December 1941, when he married Mary Elizabeth (Rager). He worked as a truck driver and in a defense plant, Curtis-Wright Aeronautical. They had their first child in 1952, Joanna. I followed in 1953, and my brother Thomas in 1955. My father died of cancer in October 1984. I was commissioned in the US Army in 1981, after graduating from college and serving a tour as an enlisted soldier. I was originally Infantry but later branch transferred to Special Forces. I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in May 1998, and retired in November 1999. I have one illegitimate child, Michael Dugan, who was born in October 1975.
