Let me recommend a book
to all horse owners concerned with the fate of their horses and to prepare for a worst case theft scenerio.
The book, "Horse Theft; been there, done that" It is also advertised on BAEN's site.

Please order and read the book by Debi Metcalfe. She has been doing stolen horse workshops at horse festivals. Look for her when she comes to CA. Her sites address is the home page of the above web addres for her book. She calls her non-profit organization, Stolen Horse International (SHI.) There is also a link to joining Netposse's Yahoo online message group. Debi is working day and night for years and is now in the process of building a data base to help manage finding lost or stolen horses. There is nothing this woman won't do to try to tract down your lost or stolen horse. Besides educating yourself about protecting your horse from horse theft, Please help support her cause by buying this book - it will make a great stocking stuffer. Donations, of course, are always welcome. Traveling around the country to speak at horse fairs costs more money then will ever be returned.
