Visit (don't call) every pound within a ten mile radius. More then once animal control said my dog wasn't there when it was. And don't assume that they'll watch for you dog and call you if it shows up either. One time my dog was brought in later that same day and nobody bothered to call me and let me know. If I wouldn't have gone down there and looked for myself and if I hadn't kept calling and checking every day both of my dogs would have sat there until they were destroyed. I'm not saying they're incompetent, they're just informationally challenged... 8^)
