I got an urgent plea late Wed via Facebook where I network probably 90% of the dogs. My so-cal contact at East Valley tagged me for a Dalmatian dumped at Lancaster. The owners said to euthanize him - they didn't want to deal with him anymore. 
So here is my 16 year (young) partially blind, totally deaf male Dalmatian (and fat). 
He navigated 3 stairs up/down pretty well, sniffed out the ranch and seems happy to be out. 
He got a bath soon as my transporter hit the road & crashed. These old guys we have to take it slow for transport, he left LA Saturday night .. made it Sunday afternoon.
he mostly sleeps now, has some congestion to get checked out but basically doing a quality of life exam and go from there.
